I agree with you that something needs to and has to be done about hazing in schools, but I can not say that I know everything that is going on in the social lives of my kids, and can therefore not expect other teachers to be informed of all that's going on within their schools. We complain every weekend about how much energy we lack, due to the excessive amount of paper work, meetings, and behavioral problems that we deal with on a daily basis. Now it may be a lot easier to notice and intercept a "slut list" circulating in middle school, but it's even harder in high school, especially if the school's population exceeds 1,000 students with a faculty and staff of about 65. So, yes! Something must be done...but teachers and administrators can't do anything about a problem without someone complaining about the issue first. When an environment is created that will outcast a student and cause possible physical harm for airing out the culprits, then you're on another level. The students must assume some responsibility, otherwise the teachers and administrators will be limited in their course of action anyway.
